INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tsp Nutralite Garlic and Oregano
  • 1 tbsp. garlic
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • 350ml of water
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • 4 to 5 basil leaves
  • 1 ½ tsp Italian herbs
  • 50 grams parmesan
  • 1 strand of parsley for garnish

For sautéing vegetable

  • 1 tsp Nutralite Garlic and Oregano
  • 1 tbsp. garlic
  • ½ cup mushroom
  • ½ cup broccoli, steamed
  • ½ cup green beans, steamed
  • 1 cup red and yellow pepper mix, steamed
  • Pink salt as per taste

Quinoa is generally available in pre-packaged containers as well as bulk bins. Whether purchasing quinoa in bulk or in a packaged container, make sure that there is no evidence of moisture.

Store quinoa in an airtight container. It will stay for a longer period of time, approximately three to six months, if stored in the refrigerator.

FOR PREPARING

The healthiest way to cook the quinoa is to add one part of the grain to two parts liquid in a saucepan.

  • Quinoa is relatively high in protein. Quinoa is a good source of several minerals, including manganese, phosphorus, copper, folate, iron, magnesium and zinc.

CAUTION

Quinoa is generally well tolerated, but it contains phytates and oxalates. When consumed in high quantity may reduce the absorption of minerals and contribute to kidney stone formation in some individuals.
